District Educators:

                                  Mike and Pam Jastram

Good Times for Rider Education in Louisiana!

We have the following announcements to make.

1. Our first Safety Weekend will be held March 6 and 7 2009.

Riding classes * 1st aid course * Safety Seminars

We want your input of what you want taught. Express your suggestions to your chapter educator. Exact location to be announced.

2. Parking lot practice facilitator program.

While others were visiting the Biltmore Home in Asheville, I was receiving instructions on GWRRA’s PLP Facilitator Program.

Our Louisiana chapter educators will be receiving instructions on how to conduct this program and by fall should be able to hold

        a PLP for your chapter

3. Level’s program.

To help generate more interest in our level program, a key to safe driving and good safety habits, I have put together an incentive

program where some of our GW members will be eligible to win gift certificates or even a set of tires for their bike. Please visit our

Louisiana District Website at www.gwrra-la.org/ for more information.

4. 1st aid Courses.

I have posted a contact where you can receive either your initial certification or refresher course. Only a four hour course for either.

Be sure to work with your chapter educator for scheduling and be sure to show up when you agree to do so. This instructor works in

the Slidell area but I will be locating others throughout the state. Please help me with anyone you know who teaches 1st aid in other cities.

5. Larry Penepent (Arkansas) has received training at Wing Ding to teach GW’s ARC (Advanced Riding Course) course.

Looks like we in Louisiana will be able to take the ARC course at a rally near you or perhaps at our Safety Weekend this spring. They tell

me that the ARC is a lot more challenging than the state’s ERC. Harry Dollarhide also received training at Wing Ding to teach instructors

the ARC so we can anticipate more ARC instructors in our area in the near future.

Buster Henriksom, our Chapter Educator for Chapter C, is scheduled for colon surgery at MD Anderson (Houston) on July 21. Buster was

diagnosed with colon cancer several months ago. Please keep Buster in your prayers. Call him or his wife to check on him.
